Sean Bernal’s
passion for cooking has been with him from an early age. Born
in Santurce, Puerto Rico to a Cuban mother and
Puerto Rican father, the flavors of the Caribbean run through his
veins.
At the ripe young age of 12, Sean’s greatest joy came from
spending time in the kitchen with his mom. Even doing chores others
might shun, such as peeling potatoes and slicing onions, brought
Sean complete satisfaction. From his mom he learned the magic of
sofrito and the secret to amazing black beans.
Sean’s family moved from Puerto Rico to South Florida when
Sean was still a child. He attended Florida Christian School in
